I was just away from Bindu blogs. I want to show the cushion cover I made. Also want to share a tip about freezing potatoes.Remember the article about money saving freezer? I needed to mention that if you got a big bag of potatoes and want to freeze them you can do it. Just boil the potatoes. Remember to start with cold water. If you put the potatoes in boiling water the inside is not going to get cooked well. After that, cool them, peel them cube them and freeze them. Good to make mashed potatoes and soups!!!.
Here is a granny square I made in pale blue. It is used to made a crochet cushion front .
It is just very pale. But I am glad that my experiment is successful. I used a square cloth to make the back and hand sewed them together. I know, my cushion needs some good colorful friends to cheer up.
May be I can add some flowers on them...

Everybody want to know how to save money and make more money. I don't have any money tree to have more money. Also, if you know me I am not great in making money either. Then what is Bindu blogs going to say about money is your question.
Well, I just came to know about some ideas to use the freezer to save the food items longer. Will it save money? Giving these tips a try won't hurt. that is all I will say.
I wasn't sure to keep my strawberries in the freezer before. Two summers before, we went for ''pick your own'' and had a lot of strawberries. We ate them fresh. Kept in the fridge...Then I searched in the internet to find a way to keep them longer. I got the tip to freeze them. I placed the washed and wiped strawberries in a cookie sheet and kept in the freezer to get frozen. Then I kept the frozen berries in a zip lock bag and kept there. They were good to make smoothies. So I decided to try the bananas in the summer. They were good to make creamy smoothies.I kept the peeled bananas though. The frozen and thawed bananas were good to make the banana bread also.
Another item I tried is bread. Sometimes I buy the bread from Costco. It is a good way to save money if you use a lot of bread. But it is a big quantity for my small family. So I freeze them. By trial and error, I learned to freeze enough slices to make sandwich for a day separately. I use two covers to keep them. All the resealable plastic bags are good to keep food in the freezer.you know the kind you get with processed frozen foods.
I read in a womens' magazine that we can actually freeze the butter for about 6 months in the freezer. I used to get mold on my big block of cheese. Once it get the mold, I cannot use it. So I cut half of the cheese block and pack it with plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge. When the half of the block in the fridge is getting finished, I have the other half getting thawed and ready to use.
The left over wine can frozen in ice cube trays and kept to be used in cooking. The fresh herbs can be put in the ice trays and our water on them and freeze. These ice cubes can be kept in air tight containers or zip lock bags in the freezer to use in cooking.I still have to try this method.
Keeping the ginger in the freezer will make it easier to grate. That way ginger can last longer too.
Hope you like the Money Saving Freezer ideas!!.

You know, those 2 end pieces of bread, kids don’t want to eat, and has no shape to use in sandwiches.
But we paid for it. If you are feeling guilty of putting those end pieces in the garbage, this article is for you!
Many people said that you can keep them in freezer, and then toast them together to make breadcrumbs. Good suggestion. But, if you are like me, you don’t use bread crumbs that much. So the crumbs are going to the garbage after all the work.
I like French toast. So I made French toast with end pieces. My daughter didn’t even notice it. This is how I made the French toast: Beat two eggs with a pinch of salt and 2 table spoons of milk. Dip the bread slices in the egg mixture and cook them on a hot skillet. Once the lower side is golden brown, turn and cooks the other side. My kid like to eat it with table syrup and butter. I like to eat it with little honey on top. Enjoy it any way you like.
The other thing I like to do is deep frying. Once in a while, a treat is OK.
What I do is put the frozen bread pieces out to thaw. Once it is thawed, I will chop an onion, few green chillies and a small piece of ginger finely. Break the bread in to pieces. Mix everything to make pliable dough. Add little water if the dough is hard. Add a bit of flour and salt to taste. Make little balls and flatten a bit. Deep fry in hot oil. You can serve it with chutney or sauce.
You can make some quick pizza with them. Just put some meat or thinly sliced vegetables on the pieces. Put some shredded cheese on top. Place in a cookie sheet and bake in the oven. Or faster yet place them in the toaster oven. Ones the cheese is melted you can enjoy the quickie pizza.
Another quick way is to toast the bread slice with butter and sprinkle a bit of garlic powder on top to eat as garlic bread. One more idea. You can tear them to pieces and feed the birds and squirrels.
