It is just Monday. The weekend flew away, doing what????? just the chores...a bit of web exploration for inspirations...
I have a lot of ideas, which is overwhelming right this moment. With all the enthusiasm, \i crocheted a cuff/bracelet. Made few easy flowers. Attached them on the basic bracelet. Then added a button. It took some time to finish with the thread....But look at it...

I put it on the sizal covered bottle for a photo.

Then I made a few hexagons,in bold yellow and red. They are just adorable. I still need to block them.Search on the internet for free crochet hexagon pattern, and you will get many easy patterns. I just added a red single crochet border for them. There, I got very summery look for them.

Follow my blog with BloglovinI was not doing that much crochet the last week. But, I am glad that I was able to fix a necklace for some one. It was an old necklace, but it was her one of her favs. This time I remembered to take a picture.
Since the blog heading is Work in progress, there should be a project in progress right? The soft acrylic yarns were calling my name when I was in Walmart. Who could resist such pastel softy baby yarns?? Especially when they were on bit of the "sale" side!! So I picked three balls. Then, started working on this pale green, baby pink and white blanket Granny square it is...and going to be a baby blanket.(No, I am not pregnant.) I haven't made a blanket for a long time.Still don't know why am I making it. It is just a kind of "you have to do it"kind of project, you know?
Haven't just figured how to make a border for this one. Right now, it is just the feeling of soft yarn moving through the fingers and getting in to a granny square blanket....

I made a few things today. Few coasters and few flowers. I have a thing for the flowers. The crocheted flowers....I like them as they are...they can be good to make greeting cards...scrapbooking...just frame them...

After uploading the pictures, I played with the tools on picnic.com. That is where I got the think cloud on the above photo. Some more things I did with my flowers(ie.pictures)...

Here are some more flowers

I am so thrilled with the book, "Crochet! Techniques, Stitches, Patterns". I didn't finish the Eyelet Pyramid project. It is still a work in progress. But, I can't wait to start a scarf using the "Arcade Stitch" pattern.

The yarn is 100% mercerized cotton from Patons, Grace in Lavender.. The recommended hokk is 4mm. But I am using a 3mm hook. This is going to be a lovely scarf for sure.I hope to go yarn shopping soon. I have a gift card from Michael's to be used. Thnaks to Quin for such a lovely gift!!

I was getting busy with my beads for a day. I needed a light weight sparkly one for myself. The left over beads from the previous project was an obvious choice.

The next one is a bit more larger. I bought the components from the bead shop. With a lot of patience, time and few beads on a headpin, the result is light weight but big earring.

The long weekend was a lot of fun. I am glad that yesterday I went to visit my cousin. According to the description of the cousins, she is my second cousin, once removed. Anyway, we call each other cousins and sometimes sisters. She has a boy and a girl. I made an anklet using beads and wire for the sweet little girl.
The wire I used is no-tarnish silver. The shiny blue beads were selected by kiddoo. I took my time to make all the wrapped loops.
Too bad for me, she was taking her afternoon nap when I was there. When she woke up, it was time for us to leave...Ya, life...sometimes...
I can't resist to add one more picture of the anklets.
I really want to make one for me now. May be two in different colors, or one using many different beads...

Haven't you ever wondered how to create a Crocheted bouquet of flowers to keep in a vase? I did. I was addicted to crocheting flowers. But the flowers I crocheted were good for applique only. I tried to attach them to pipe cleaner to put in a vase. but it didn't work.
So when I found some crocheted roses by the Crochet geek, I thought, I found a solution. I crocheted some roses using red and white yarns.
Then comes the tricky part of attaching the pipe cleaner to the flowers. It was not mentioned in her post. I bend the pipe cleaner and poked it through the flower. The pipe cleaner is visible on top of the flower

So while stitching the pipe cleaner to the crocheted flower, I used the same yarn to cover the top of it. I did this by going through the bend with the yarn needle while stitching it to the flower.

Finally I put them in one of my Sisal covered bottles.

I was going through the book, "Crafting with Kids" by Jennifer Casa.
The project Snowy Citrus Cups caught my eyes. I wanted to try the citrus cups for ice-cream. While I was cutting the orange, I was able to take out all the orange flesh without much problem. It is actually easy. Then remove whatever white string like things in the orange "cup". Just pop in the freezer. After few hours, you get a sturdy small orange bowl!!!I served ice-cream in the orange cup. She was so thrilled.
Since the orange peel is just garbage and saving myself from washing one more serving bowl, I am so happy about the citrus bowls.

;It is getting warmer in Toronto. Yes, we can say it is getting hot. The gardens are growing too. Me living in a high rise building does not mean that I don't have any plants. Actually, my usually reluctant hubby decided to buy me some plants soil and seeds. I have few plastic containers already. Since I got seeds, I needed more containers. I cannot buy more because after the season, I don't have space to keep all of them. Also, I am more into 3Rs now a days. So, I started to brainstorm to keep my gardening stuff going.
The answer come from the chickpea containers. (I posted about these upcycled containers last year). Since kiddoo love chickpeas, I always have those at home. I decided to use them. After removing the labels they look like this:

I used a nail and hammer to make holes in the bottom to create drainage holes. Added soil in them and they are ready for use.Even though they are perfect in that color, I wanted to give it a Bindu Design touch, you know.So I crocheted a cozy for them.

It is created using single crochet stitches. The bottom can still leave rust marks on the balcony, if I don't keep something under the container to protect the floor. First I thought, I needed to buy a plastic tray. We actually found one at the Walmart. Then I remember the non-stick griddle, which has an unexpected curve and therefore cannot be used on my glass ceramic stove top. That can serve as a tray to keep my containers.

I may have some chives and basil soon. That depend on the seeds....May be I am late to plant the seeds. Let us see....
