More earrings!!

by bindu 22. June 2010 00:34

I am very interested in playing with beads to create more earrings than anything else now a days. Since I made a couple of more, I thought, it would be nice to share in Bindu Blogs. The picture below is green and brown beads, which was inspired by the green leaves and the Earth. I am sorry that the picture is not showing the brown leaf in the middle clearly.

The next one is "Pink Sea" which make me feel like wearing a pink silk dress. The various shades of pink and so pretty. The glass beads make a small sound when the earring moves. The dangling beads and the connector give the earring the eye catching effects. I love the prettiness of pink.

The last one I would like to share today is a "Candy". The pink lines on the white beads reminds me of candy canes. The pink seed beads makes the"Candy beads" pop. On the silver plated wires, the beads are sitting pretty.

New Earring

by bindu 18. June 2010 01:14
I was working on a new idea to make a big earring. I wanted to make a big one. This one has a blue round glass bead in the middle and small blue beads and some black gunmetal beads. The blue and the dark small beads complement each other. I am not that satisfied with the final result. I think, i need to work on the loops again. Here is the picture...

Few earrings

by bindu 10. June 2010 03:22
I got some beads to play with. The beads are lovely. I got several of the light blue ones. I tried to make some earrings. I am still not sure how to adjust my camera so that I can avoid the glare. The pictures didn't turn out nicely as supposed to be. Anyway, I decided to give them a try in Bindu blogs. I tried more blue earrings. The ear wires are of silver color. The beads are glass beads. Both are very reflecting the light. I need to figure out how to take pictures of my crafts with this camera, I think. May be I can get a bit of help from hubby.Hopefully, I will figure it out soon! See just one more blue earring for today.

Hopefully, by tomorrow, I will have some good pictures to show.

Banana Bread for a rainy afternoon

by bindu 2. June 2010 22:16
I like Banana breads. They are a good way to use up the bananas and to make people eat them too. It was raining outside a bit today afternoon. Then I decided to do some baking. This is the first thing I bake in my new oven. I was a bit nervous about the outcome. But, it turned out to be fine. My daughter love it.
If you want the recipe, here it is!
Bananas: 3 large ripe
Butter: 1/2 cup
Sugar: 11/4 cups
Eggs: 2
Flour: 11/2 cups
Cinnamon: 1/4 tsp
Baking powder: 1/4 tsp
Baking soda: 1/2 tsp
Mix the sugar and butter well. Add the eggs and mix again. Now add all other ingredients and the mashed bananas.
Pour in to the pan
Bake at 375degrees for about an hour. Check for doneness with a tooth pick. If it comes out clean, the bread is ready.

Kumons

by bindu 2. June 2010 22:09

Kumon tuition centers are becoming more and more popular in Asian countries now a days. The Kumons method was introduced by Toru Kumon, a Japanese teacher. He wanted to make his son to excel in Math. Seeing his son's success in school Mr.Kumon founded the Kumon Center to help other kids too. Now we can see many Kumon Centers.

They have a special method of giving assignments to kids. The admission is based on a placement test. It is free of charge. Then the child is placed in appropriate level. The teachers at Kumon give assignments for the kid to finish at home and to return for evaluation. As the child makes progress, the assignments also gets in to the advanced level. It is truly based on the individual's ability.

Coupons for Canadians

by bindu 2. June 2010 17:26

We all heard of stories of Americans saving money using coupons. I think, we Canadians are not getting as many coupons as the Americans. Now a days, I am seeing some coupons and deals especially for Canadians.

I am using Save.ca for a long time now. But, many of the coupons available are not for the products I really want. The good thing about Save.ca is , they will send you coupons through the snail mail. If you don't have a printer to get the coupons printed, don't worry, use save.ca.

Then there is redflagdeals.com to give the up to date information about the current deals. I also like the smartcanucks.ca. They post new deals every day.  They usually post the deals available on Shoppers Drugmart and some times Costco, which I like. Then they will post links to free stuff also. Who don't like to receive free stuff, like a small bottle of shampoo?

Thinkcoupon.ca is another one. They currently has $1 off for Kashi Cereal. You need to provide your email address to get the coupons.

I will say, create a special email account only for the coupons and deals websites. So you will not be cluttering up your valuable email address with the ads and things like that.

Do you find any other coupon websites useful? Let me know.

Re-usable Bag with a Flower

by bindu 1. June 2010 15:46

These are the days of reusable bags. Everywhere you go, you can see reusable bags. Most of the stores sell them cheap. Remembering to take one with you is the difficult thing. I found a solution to that.

I keep my grocery bags in the car. After Sunday shopping, I pack them together and hang it on the door handle. So Monday morning, I will remember to give them to dear hubby to keep them in the car.

I was not going to write about reusable grocery bags, though. I wanted to write about my red bag, I got from Rogers. That was a free gift for taking their phone, cable and internet. The bag is cute and eye catchingly red. I love the color and style. It can be folded in like a purse and kept in my handbag to be used when I am in the shop. But, I don't wanted to do free advertising for Rogers. So I hide the "Rogers" with a Crocheted Flower

This is how it will look like in the purse form.

When I am ready to put things in it, I can unzip the bag and make it as a tote, like this:

. I took it out for a couple of times. I feel so proud. Now my kiddoo wants to get some customization on her tote too. Let me think, what I can do for that one!!
